İstanbul Bilgi University is a unique institution in the Turkish context, as we hope you will see from the material in this website. BİLGİ was founded in 1996. It is a young, dynamic university located in the heart of Istanbul - which is both a very old, and at the same time, a very modern and dynamic city. BİLGİ prides itself on its innovative programmes in the social sciences, economics, business, communications, the arts and law. It also prides itself on its social commitment and sense of social responsibility. BİLGİ is a private institution with a public mission. The faculty of BİLGİ is composed of Turkish and international scholars and practitioners with national and international reputations. Our language of instruction, other than for the Law Faculty, is English. We offer a wide selection of courses for international students, both those coming for Erasmus and other exchanges and those who plan to earn BİLGİ degrees. This website provides you with information about exchange and degree programmes as well as about application and other procedures, life at BİLGİ, living in İstanbul and living in Turkey.
The BİLGİ Mission
The founding premise of İstanbul Bilgi University is that the ultimate goal of the advancement of knowledge is the happiness and well-being of the individual and of society.
In contributing to the realization of that goal this university has attempted to establish a cultural and scientific community which promotes tolerance and respect for a diversity of individuals with different lifestyles, beliefs and ways of thinking.
İstanbul Bilgi University seeks to educate free-thinking, creative, intellectually-curious and enterprising individuals who contribute to a world in which knowledge is the primary driving force in society, in which knowledge is accessible for all and, indeed, in which access to it has come to be seen as a fundamental human right.
Centre for International Programmes
The Centre for International Programmes aims, among other things, to provide for the educational, professional, social, cultural and personal needs of international students, from pre-arrival correspondence to postgraduate concerns. In that sense, CIP aims to contribute to international and multicultural understanding and to serve as the primary BİLGİ liaison and resource centre for international students.
